Purchasing Specialist

Location: Technology Park, Zapopan.

Salary: $30,000 – $35,000 MXN gross/month

About the Opportunity

We are a global leader in industrial equipment and systems. Currently, 97% of our direct materials are imported. As part of our regional growth strategy, we are actively transitioning toward local supplier development to optimize lead times, reduce freight costs, and strengthen our supply chain.

We are looking for a highly analytical, data-driven Purchasing Specialist to drive our local sourcing strategy while managing our established international supply network. You will report directly to the foreign Supply Chain Director, making fluent English essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Local Sourcing & Supplier Development: Identify, evaluate, and qualify domestic suppliers to shift key components from international to local sourcing without sacrificing quality or compliance.
• International Purchasing & Import Management: Manage international procurement from Europe and Asia (China, Malaysia, Germany). Ensure full compliance with import processes, customs, tariffs (NOMs, tariff fractions), and international certifications.
• Big Data & Portfolio Analysis: Analyze massive part catalogs (+10,000 SKUs) using advanced data management skills to make data-driven purchasing decisions, TCO comparisons, and demand forecasts.
• Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and SLAs with domestic and international vendors to achieve savings and optimize working capital.
• Purchase Order Lifecycle: Oversee end-to-end purchase order execution, tracking supplier OTIF performance and proactively resolving supply chain bottlenecks.

Candidate Profile

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related fields.
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in direct materials purchasing.
• Material Expertise: Hands-on experience sourcing commodities such as steel/metal-mechanics, injection-molded plastics (PVC), electric motors, industrial wiring, and hardware/fasteners.
• International vs. Local Mix: Strong background in international procurement (approx 80% international / 20% local), with proven capability to scale domestic vendor development.
• Data Mastery: Exceptional analytical thinking and numerical agility. Mastery of advanced Excel and ERP systems to manage high-volume SKUs (+10,000 parts) and Big Data environments.
• Customs Knowledge: Solid understanding of import requirements, Mexican customs regulations, tariffs, and NOMs.
• Languages: Advanced / Fluent English is mandatory (daily reporting to an international director).
